Background:
- Born in Wayne, Michigan and raised in Plymouth.
Graduated from Plymouth Salem High School in 1976.
- Attended The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
Graduated in 1982 with a major in Secondary Education. - Employed at a local crisis center where she counseled women
and children who had been victims of domestic and sexual
assault. Acting as their advocate through the criminal
justice system, she developed an interest in law. Along
the way, she developed an innovative program for inmates
convicted of sexual assault and women who had been victimized.
- Attended The Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where she received
her Juris Doctorate in 1989. While in law school, she
worked for the State Appellate Defender Office.
- Admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1989 and the U.S.
District Court for the Western District in 1993. Professional
memberships include: the American Bar Association, Grand Rapids
Bar Association, and the Ottawa County Bar Association.
- From 1989 to 1991, Burda served as an Assistant Prosecutor
in Muskegon County.
- From 1992 to 2003, she worked for law firms and in private
practice, handling workers' disability compensation, personal
injury, medical malpractice, family law, neglect, and juvenile
delinquency.
- July 2003, Burda joined the law offices of Nelson, Kreuger &
Schrotenboer, P.C., in Hudsonville, Michigan, specializing in
litigation, family law, workers' disability compensation, and
social security disability.
- In 2007, she returned to private practice, opening Burda Law Offices L.L.C
